I am what I am

I am a serious Anglophile.  Just ask my husband the Lanky.
I love my dog unconditionally, even when I find that sock with the toe missing, under the bed.
I will accept all requests from my friends to host dinner parties.
I was married in a castle way, way, before Madonna ever thought about it.
I am uncomfortable in crowds.
I love to fish, but hate to take pike off the hook.  ouch.
I have a serious lust for automobiles.  Mostly of the 60's and 70's - American, British and Italian.
I will stop and pet any and all dogs that I see.
When it is warm, I love to get dirt under my nails.  In winter I make do here.
I like leaving books I have already read in unexpected places for others to find them.
I love mission style and arts and crafts. Greene and Greene, Frank Lloyd Wright, Stickley, etc.
I love the smell of antique shops and used book shops.
I love red wine, french rose, cognac and single malt scotch from Islay.  The smokier, the better.
I don't drink soda.
I would gladly pay John Hannah to read me the phone book.  All of it.
Twice
I watch way too much BBC America.
I always have music playing.
I believe that love is where you find it, regardless of 'the rules'.
I believe that religion is more of a feeling than a doctrine.
When it comes to shoes, comfort beats fashion always.
I have a shortwave radio.
I cook in the following styles, French, Italian, Indian, Belgian, English, Thai, Vietnamese, Spanish, Moroccan, Turkish, Chinese, American
I swear when I'm driving.  A lot.  With occasional hand gestures.
It's a good thing I take the train to work every day. It's a good thing my commute is 10 minutes across town.
I get along extremely well with both of my parents.  It was not always this way.  Thankfully the adolescent years have been forgiven.
I am an only child.
I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I finally fell into my calling as cooking teacher, business owner and every day I go to my place of work - I do not 'feel' like I am working.  I ADORE my job.
My husband is 13 years older than me.
My stepmother is 4 years older than me.
My parents are 17 and 18 years older than me.
At one time I wanted to work in radio.  People always comment on my voice. Especially men upon hearing my voice on the phone, but I won't go there.
I love England and would live there in a heartbeat.
I have been to Italy.  By Myself.
I don't think that we will have any children.
I would have a small farms worth of animals if I could.
I always try to read the book FIRST, see the movie AFTER.
My grandfather always had dog biscuits in his jacket pockets in case he came upon a furry friend.  I loved that about him.
I collect sheep items.
I collect Maxfield Parrish art.  He was acquainted with my family when they lived in Cornish N.H.
One should never, never let any body part dangle over the edge of the bed whilst sleeping.  The boogie man does live under there you know.
I have a great affection for old Mill towns.
I grew up in Chelmsford. A small northern town in Massachusetts.
The soundtrack would be Dream Academy's 'Life in a Northern Town'.
I am an INFJ

Okay, I had to do this after I read yours. It was rather entertaining and now I'm trying to get SO to do one. The list makes me seem more interesting than I feel. :)

Life in a Northern Town - a classic.

Especially as I do.

Live in Northern Town that is.

Newcastle upon Tyne to be precise.

Yeah, I had many things I related to, and as you didn't number your comments, I had to cut and paste them all with my answers! Sorry to clog up your comments!!! Here goes:

I’m a so-so Anglophile; love the accent, the spotted dick and tons of rabbits!

I love my dog unconditionally, too. We won’t mention WHAT I find under the bed from him!

I will accept all requests from my friends to host dinner parties: Can I be your friend, then? And when you say yes, could you please start planning the dinner party!!!

I am uncomfortable in crowds: Me, too. Wayyyy better one on one.

Ditto about fishing

I will stop and pet any and all dogs that I see. LOL me too! Saw the cutest lil baby miniature pinscher WITH it's tail & ears intact in Nashua last night.

I like leaving books I have already read in unexpected places for others to find them. Me, too!

I love the smell of antique shops and used book shops. Me, too!

I love red wine, french rose, cognac and single malt scotch from Islay. The smokier, the better. I’m with you on the red wine…the rest uh uh!

I would gladly pay John Hannah to read me the phone book. *swoon* Me, too. If he’s not available, I’ll gladly take Alan Rickman.

I believe that love is where you find it, regardless of 'the rules'. Completely!

I believe that religion is more of a feeling than a doctrine. Too right!

When it comes to shoes, comfort beats fashion always. Girl, I’m so with you here!

I swear when I'm driving. A lot. With occasional hand gestures. You have to, here in New England.

I get along extremely well with both of my parents. It was not always this way. Me, too

Thankfully the adolescent years have been forgiven. And I put them thru a lot, and thankfully they don’t know the half of it!!!

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Me, either, and I’d better hurry up before I’m dead!

I always try to read the book FIRST, see the movie AFTER. Agreed!

My grandfather always had dog biscuits in his jacket pockets in case he came upon a furry friend. I loved that about him. I love hearing it!

One should never, never let any body part dangle over the edge of the bed whilst sleeping. The boogie man does live under there you know. Of course! Also the weird things the dog hides there!

I have a great affection for old Mill towns. Me, too!

I grew up in Chelmsford. Howdy, neighbor! I grew up in Billerica.

I was born in a Northern town - 10 yards from a cotton mill. I used to wear clogs when I was a kid and I still have a pair. I'm a Lanky through and through - like your husband.I'm a maltaholic too.Ardbeg is my current favourite.
Don't grow up.

Thanks for your comments on my blog re: trackbacks I will get it figured out (and cleaned up sooner or later).

I adore that you were married in a castle - I mean it does not get any more romantic than that.

I am jealous that you made a career change to something you love - someday I will be able to do that financially.

Clogs rock, my dog is my "baby", as for real babies I doubt it, books should ALWAYS be read before the movies except for Harry Potter because the books are just wayyyy too long and yes crowds are no fun.

Glad I found your blog!

I edit a business publication for the northeast US foodservice industry, Foodservice East, soon to launch a website - www.Foodserviceeast.com (within the next 2 weeks, or less, I hope!).

For many years(nearly 30) my partner and I put this out six times a year- he died suddenly last summer and now it's just me.

I really enjoyed your blog - entertaining and fun and relevant. I am trying to re-learn cooking/baking after being spoiled every night for 29 years with Richard's fabulous fare. I have lots of burns and scrapes to show for my year of effort but my food is getting a lot better- I often say, Wow, that's really good! now.

I live with a collection of teddy bears - I'm allergic to but love dogs and cats. They were given to me to protect me and they are very good at that.

I love what I do and hope to be able to keep doing it forever.

About a year ago I did a story on Tom Holloway of Rustic Kitchen and his program with Cambridge Culinary Institute.

I agree with the petting any dog you come across. I think the love between and pet and there owner is unmatched, and commend that fact that you cherish you pet so much.
