Master Chef

Gordon

I just wanted to poke my head in to tell you all about something I'm really excited about.  Fox contacted me a week ago to see if we would host the casting call for the new Master Chef series at Create a Cook.  I've always been a huge fan of the UK series (here's a you tube video if you have never seen the show) and I was pretty mad when they stopped showing them here in the states.  I've only been able to catch snippets of the new one on You Tube.  I have also always felt that Gordon Ramsay's image in the US is quite different than the image he has in the UK.  If you watch any of his UK shows he isn't exactly warm and lovable, but he is certainly less acerbic and nasty than the show in the states have shown him to be.  I think this show might just be his chance to change his image on this side of the pond.  Don't be afraid to come and try out.  This show is meant for the home cook, the amateur, the person who hasn't worked in professional kitchens.  See the press release below and sign up if you want to try out!

Wow!! How fun is that!
Despite how they present him on TV here, there is still the ability to see his passion for excellent food! I have always liked him because of that passion and his obvious mission for sharing his knowledge.

Richard

Very Cool!

Julia

So very very cool! Congrats to you. Too bad I don't qualify. :)

Blue Witch

Gosh, exciting!

Gordon Ramsay presenting US Masterchef? Oh dear.

And yes, he's apparently every bit as rude and nasty as you see him. The daughter of one of my Crafty Ladies has been involved in filming him over here [not too many details, don't want the poor girl getting the sack!] and says he is a nightmare to work with.

I don't even think he's a particularly good chef! I certainly don't watch him.

sue

Ha! Wonderful ! Oddly enough, The Baby and I watch Gordon Ramsey's shows whenever they are on at a decent time. Being Dutch, all of the cussing goes right over her head, but he has a big little fan here.

I myself tend to think that the Chef in Ratatouille has many of the same characteristics as Gordon Ramsey, or is that just the stereotype of a Chef ?

But how utterly neat. Wicked neat, in fact !

Bravo you !

sue

Jo, my whole family is so excited for you.
We ALL * know* you, simply because most of our family favorites have come from you, and we are a very difficult family of 5 to feed.

You know, The Hubby won't eat cheese, The Boy won't eat peas, after dissecting a fetal pig when I was 13, I am very wary of grounds meats ( and I used to LOVE scrapple), becoming a vegetarian afterwards for about 7 years. ( I came out of it, oddly enough, because I love meatloaf. But the ground beef here is so nasty, that nothing works. I think that it has to do with how the cows/ boy ones are fed and the fact that in The States, beef is aged. But really, what do I know ? )

Yup, go, you !

jo

Thank you everyone! I really am excited about this opportunity. We're all abuzz about who is going to come in that day just to see all the excitement. I really hope that we get a good turnout. I had a call yesterday from someone who had been approved to come to the casting call and they just sounded so excited.

Sue;
You are correct, as far as I know that do not age the beef in Europe like they do in the states. I would hear that from butchers all over the UK when I would ask about the meat. I'm also guessing our grain finishing must affect the texture as well with more fat content making it stickier. And thank you for your support. I really can't believe it has come this far this fast. Such an amazing ride.

El

I'm so glad you got this opportunity. It looks like a lot of fun. Have a blast and congratulations!

Katie

That sounds exciting! I like Gordon Ramsay, although my stress levels do rise dramatically when I'm watching Hell's Kitchen!

Janet

wow, that's so amazing!!!

Rosie

Strangely, Gordon Ramsey comes over as a quite shy and passive personality when he appears on chat shows such as the Jonathon Ross show.

I suppose, away from the professional kitchen environment he reverts to being more human.
