On a Loop
If anyone knows the words to that hotwire.com ditty from the ads. Please, I implore you share.
Da da da da
di di di
da da da da
di di di
I know it is probably non sensical drivel, but really, I need to know the words to stop the song going round and round and round and round.
Give a girl a nights rest will you?
**Updates:
Husband has found the ad company that created the campaign.
And he has found the group that did the music. They are called Los High Tops. Think Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars. There are some Mp3's of the band at their site. Very Rock-a-Billy. Here's one of their tracks called Death Agent to give you an idea of the guitar sound. They also have an MPEG on the site of the first commercial with the music.
Sadly though the ad that is on the ad company's site is the earlier hotwire ad campaign. Vaguely the same music but sans the lyrics (or drivel).
And the quest continues...
****Update Update
How's that for service?
The very man who made that happy, happy, happy surf-a-billy ditty used in the hotwire ad answered my plea. He's right there in the comments, below....have a look. How cool is that! What the f*ck did we all do before the internet.
Sadly, he says there were no *ahem* lyrics. I bet those ad people layed on the mumbo jumbo fafaro lines after.
*sigh*

Apparently, there was a surf-rock band called "The Statesmen" (or "The States Men" depending) who recorded a ditty called "Roo Buh Doo Buh Doo." I say apparently because I can't seem to find the song. Could be it exists only in someone's closet on 12" ... [Read More]

Aw come on!!!!!!! You found my site and my plea for the lyrics....
The new ad has the song and then there's a break in the music for a second and someone mumbles, Something, Something, Something fafaro.....
I know it is sort of mumbo jumbo but it just drives me mad that I can't, you know, mumble along with the ditty.
The music is fabulous by the way and it really does get stuck right in the frontal lobe and won't shake loose.
*sigh* at least someone answered.

Yeah! -- I'm hung up on that song too. -- the flute and guitar one with the "lyric" that sounds like it was sung by an Elvis impersonator. If that is also by Los High Tops, they should put out a CD, man! I'd be willing to spend some bucks to get that song.
If you ever find out for sure, PLEEEEEEEZE let me know too, especially if you find out how it can be *****acquired***** for listening at will!

I actually spoke to one of Los High Tops, who said the song was by The Statesmen. Not so fast: there have been numerous bands with that name, the most famous being a gospel group that's about a million miles from this music. And sadly, dude from LHT couldn't remember the name of the song.
Diligent (fanatical?) web research has led me to believe that the song may be "Roo Buh Doo Buh Doo" by surf-rock band The Statesmen, which appeared on the now out-of-print "Pebbles vol. 17" vinyl compilation. If anyone can get ahold of this disc and send me an MP3, I'd be most grateful.

Simon...you rule! I believe with high probability that you are indeed correct, cause it would need ot be surf rock wouldn't it? I spent a lot of time searching for Statesmen but gave up as it was always a newpaper in the midwest. Now that I have a name, I shall start hunting.
You would think with the amount of interest in that song that the boys would put out a CD for the faithful, wouldn't you.

I found this page because I did a search for that hotwire.com commercial. (I am hooked on that song too!) Through the Los High Tops link at the top of the page, I found out that the commercial with the re-make of the Statesmen song is called "2 rooms", but it doesn't give the name of the song. : ( I would definitely buy a Los High Tops CD if it included that song. (Very Austin Powers!)

I just found the original "Roo Buh Doo Buh Doo," and this is indeed the "fafaro" song. What a relief. Los High Tops will be releasing their version, too... I happen to prefer the more primitive sound of the original, but it sounds as though the new rendition is pretty faithful.

Simon;
Thanks for noticing;
It was a kick to go back to one of San Fran's finest recording rooms (Hank Smith Studios) for the Hotwire commercials and work to make millions of dollars worth of the finest equipment imaginable - sound like a 2 track recording from the 60's. - It is much more difficult to do that than folks imagine!
If anything - our aim is to stay true to our originals - or the covers- like the Statesmen song.

OK - you asked for - and here it is 4 months later!
The real Hotwire.com commercial. Now you'll realize you never really wanted to hear it again.
go to www.loshightops.com and see the multimedia section.
(I apologize to you dials-ups - each is about 15M)
