I'm sorry, but one should not need one of these on June 14th. Brrr!!!!!
Boston butt (Part of the pork shoulder) is brining in the upstairs fridge, garlic and rosemary oils have been made and are cooling. Later we'll make spiedini with grilled mushroom, red pepper and shallot on a bed of grilled crostini all drizzled with the two oils. I had planned on doing it on the outside grill, but I think the indoor one next the fireplace might win out tonight.
What are you having for dinner?
Tonight it was Tuscan Chicken, garlic mashed (from scratch) and fiddleheads sauteed in garlic greens (both purchased from our local farm stand, but fresh picked this morning). I made some drop biscuits, but wimped out on dessert. Skinny Cow Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich with the last of the red wine. ;)

It wasn't REALLY cold enough for that fire, was it??? Didn't you guys just have a heat wave? We've had a cool spring and early summer with only a few hot days so far. I'm faaaaaaaar behind in my gardening due to the normal spring rush along with major graduation event planning and cool weather, so suppers are simple right now as we work to get everything planted. Two WONDERFUL friends gave me big bags of mixed lettuces from their productive gardens. So, supper tonight was: greens (with kale and swiss chard and lambsquarters [an edible "weed" picked by my little boys] from our garden), radishes from my local organic farmer guy, raisins, and sliced hard-boiled eggs from our layers. Also, sliced ham from our Berkshire pigs, homemade applesauce, chips and salsa (store-bought, alas, as we ran out of ours a month or two ago). Oh, and dessert was homemade french vanilla ice cream (made by my 13-y-o) and gluten-free chocolate with chocolate chips cake (made by my 18-y-o)--YUM! Tomorrow: egg salad on mixed lettuces and kale, and ummmm, hmmmm, I haven't figured out what else yet. Maybe watermelon.
